INCENTIVE:
At her current canon point, Kara has found her footing as a superhero and is adamant about being taken seriously. While asking for her family or even her entire home planet Krypton being brought back to life might seem like an obvious choice, Kara has seen how much harm her own aunt can do to Earth — and it seems too big a thing to ask for. Instead, her request will focus on more immediate concerns. Recently, a young woman ended up in a coma because Kara was struck by lightning when rescuing her. (That woman then went on to gain powers and become a villain, but that’s beside the point.) Kara will ask that no civilian become collateral damage to her actions — which covers the protection of her loved once, but will also prevent other losses of life.

Admittedly: it feels like cheating to a certain degree, and shouldn’t she be strong enough to protect people all on her own? But if it comes to saving lives, Kara isn’t too proud to ask for a little (or a lot) of magical back-up. Being a hero is never without consequences, and she’d like to keep the negative ones of her doing her Supergirl thing to a minimum.

FIT:
Kara is a single woman in her mid-twenties. At the start of the series, we see her go on a date (they had a high matching rate on the internet!) and she quite promptly becomes infatuated with James Olsen when she first sees him, though nothing has come of it so far. She’s affectionate with her sister, foster mom and best friend Winn — even if he’d like for it to be more than just affection. In short, Kara has no apparent hang-ups regarding emotional or physical intimacy, though she seems very much the type to require an emotional connection for anything sexual, so random hook-ups are off the table.
